Myth Carver’s “Twist of Fate” EP – Review

Twist of Fate by MYTH CARVER, the band’s newest EP, rocks your helter-skelter dopamine levels with an eighties sound that’ll quickly remind you why you fell in love with heavy metal in the first place. It might sound nostalgic for the first 30 seconds, but Myth Carver adds subtle layers of death/hardcore metal that move their music out of the eighties and into the present.

A “2025” blend of Helloween and early Metallica, Twist of Fate’s guitar solos leave you wanting more speedgasm finger tapping and hammer-ons. The solos all serve the songs rather than running them off the rails. Unexpected tempo changes march the album right along;

the EP’s songs flew by, and usually, less is more, but in the case of Myth Carver: I want fucking more!

List of members in Myth Carver: Daniel Schmuck, Tom Reyes, Jayson Braffett, Andrew Messer, and Steven Rodriguez

Myth Carver calls Texas home, but these guys aren’t metal cowboys riding mechanical bulls doing country-metal-rock-whatever-the-fuck. Twist of Fate comes into your ear canals on a pale horse to engage your soul, shake your brain, and kick a little sand in your eye. “Thunder Kill” is a must-listen.
